And finally, the long-awaited update! So first a short (or not-so-short) recap of the past FOUR events! As a belated Valentine's Day event, we showed the romantic Taiwanese comedy Hear Me (聽說) at our Noodles and Movie Night event. Unfortunately, we had issues with the subtitles so hopefully you enjoyed the karaoke filler as we attempted to fix the problem! And of course, hopefully you enjoyed the film itself and had your fill of delicious beef noodles! Next, we had TASA Iron Chef where three guest teams, Team Basil, Team Hobbes3, and Team Püdding, challenged the TASA board's representative team -- Team Numba 1 -- with leader Treasurer Bryan Yang and members Freshman Representative Ian Chen and Erica Yang! Check out the photos and videos in the Fall 09 - Spring 10 gallery to see what you missed out on! And congratulations to Team Püdding (with leader Brian Chiang and members Joseph BK Kim, Yanhui Lye, and Henry Yew) for winning first place with their 三杯雞 (three cup chicken also known as basil chicken) with fried shallots! And congratulations to Basil Soofi of Team Basil for winning second place with his curry/masala based dish with fried shallots! And of course, Team Numba 1 came close with third place with their mix of flavors from the streets and home topped with fried shallots. And last, but not least, congratulations to Satoshi Kawasaki of Team Hobbes for his salmon with Hollandaise sauce plus fried shallots! What's with all these fried shallots? Well that was the secret ingredient, of course! A big thank you to those of you who showed up to the event! And a bigger thank you to those who didn't! Because fewer attendees means more food for us! Of course, the greatest thank you must go out to all the competitors! Thanks for making the event a success!
In the same week, we had TASA and VSA's Bo Bo Garden Outing for a night of great food and karaoke! Oddly enough, no members of GT's Vietnamese Student Association actually attended the event ... so the event ended up as just a TASA event! We certainly hope that you had your fill of good food and enjoyed singing ... or just watching others sing a few good hours of karaoke! Of course, a huge thank you to everyone who managed to come out and another thank you to those who provided transportation! Of course, check out the photos and video in the Fall 09 and Spring 10 gallery to see what foods were there, who showed up (from other colleges too!), and to hear Vice President Steve Hsieh breaking down to "Drowning" by the Backstreet Boys! Sorry Steve. It was too good not to post. Apologies in advanced for the poor quality, but a big thank you to Jerry Fu for taking the photos and the video! (Although, if you really like videos, you should check out the videos from Iron Chef -- they're not only more comprehensive but a lot crazier!) Finally, TASA collaborated with the Caribbean Student Association (CaribSA), the Filipino Student Association (FSA), the Hong Kong Student Association (HKSA), and Japan Society (JS) in an exotic mixer Island Night! Punch from the Caribbean islands, gulaman from the islands of the Philippines, coconut sago cream from Hong Kong, Calpico from Japan, and bubble tea from Taiwan -- did you try them all? Aside from the refreshments, hopefully you enjoyed the performances by KerKer Band and Magicians @ GT! A huge thank you to them for providing entertainment! If you didn't pick up an event program but would still like one, let us know! There's information about each of the five participating organizations, their drinks, and the performers inside! Also thank you to those who either dressed up in cultural dress or semi-formally! You guys looked like studs! Of course, let us know how the event was -- and what went well and what could have been better by emailing us at
