Photos from the spring general meeting have now been uploaded! They can be viewed in the Photo Gallery. Thank you to all who joined us and a second thank you goes out to everyone who bought a bento box in support of our Haiti relief efforts! Thank you, Secretary Lynn Tsai for providing the meals!
In other news, Freshman Representative Ian Chen is now also acting as Service Chair, and Ted Chen is still around as our "Master Chef"!! And now for the updates you care about most! The Lunar New Year is in two weeks!! Our next event is Where: Eighth Street Apartments Activity Room Admission to this event will be free for members and $3 for non-members. Of course, you can always pay dues and become a member for $15. At this event, we'll be teaching you to make a traditional dessert served on the first full moon after the New Year. Again, I encourage you to express your enthusiasm by dressing up as a tiger in honor of the upcoming Year of the Tiger! Or at least wear red (or orange, haha). We'll see you there! Chinese New Year at the CCC is not an event of our own, but we will be there selling lemon aiyu and mochi so please come out the weekend of the Lunar New Year! Sunday, February 14th, 2010 What time: 10:00AM-4:00PM Where: Culture Center of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Atlanta (near Dinho in China Town) 5377 New Peachtree Rd Atlanta, GA 30341 Yes, it will be on Valentine's Day ... but Valentine's Day is meant to be spent with loved ones. And you do love the officers and members of TASA, don't you? Well, at least try to come out and support us! Plus, there will be many more booths selling various foods and booths selling cute crafts or trinkets. And of course, there will be performances! Finally, independent team All Day Buffet plays its first intramural game this Thursday! Although the team isn't of our organization, a lot of our members, including Treasurer Bryan Yang, Events Committee member Charles Kuo, Freshman Representative Ian Chen, and Patrick Chen (to name a few ...), play on the team! The game will be at 10:00PM on Thursday night so if you can make it, show your support and help cheer them on! Again, Tiger 湯圓 (Tang Yuan) Night will be this Tuesday in the Eight Street Activity Room; we hope to see you there!! |

Photos from the Back-to-School Mixer with the Filipino Student Association - Atlanta, Sigma Beta Rho Fraternity Inc., Sigma Sigma Rho Sorority Inc., Society of Step, and the Turkish Student Organization have been uploaded! Although it was cold, it was still fun as the marshmallow and toothpick rendition of the Taipei 101 evolved into the Leaning Tower of Eiffel. Don't know what I'm talking about? Check out the event photos in the Fall 09 - Spring 10 section of the photo gallery. Also, thanks to everyone who came out to the first general meeting! Hope that marshmallows and toothpicks part II was fun and that you got to know a few more people. Photos from the general meeting will be up shortly. The Lunar New Year is coming up!! In honor of the holiday, our next events will be Tiger 湯圓 (Tang Yuan) Night When: Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010 What time: TBD Where: TBD Yes, it sounds pretty cheesy, but there will be food and fun! And feel free to join in the excitement by dressing up as a tiger! ;D No really, I'm serious. I can guarantee that you will not be the only one. And of course, we will be at CCC's annual Chinese New Year festival selling food and drinks. Welcome back to school! Hopefully you are all caught up on rest as we dive into this next semester. To start the semester off, TASA will be worknig with the Filipino Student Association - Atlanta, Sigma Beta Rho Fraternity Inc., Sigma Sigma Rho Sorority Inc., Society of Step, and the Turkish Student Organization at Yes, that's tomorrow!! Sorry for the late notice but hopefully you'll still make it! There will be a free throw shooting contest, a competition to build the Taipei 101 out of marshmallows and toothpicks, and a Filipino food eating contest! There will also be bubble tea, crackers, and Filipino snacks! However, the weather tomorrow evening will be around the lower thirties and upper twenties so dress warmly!!
If you just can't make it for some reason (you have jetlag or you are deathly afraid of the cold or because you are still in denial that school has started ...), you can look forward to our first major event of the semester There will, of course, be more bubble tea! And we'll also be playing more ice-breaker games. Do come because it'll be fun! Just a sneak preview of what's to come this semester -- Chinese New Year at the CCC, ITASA at MIT, Island Night, officer elections, Night Market, Relay for Life, and much, much more! We'll see you tomorrow! |

Hooray for winter break! Hopefully dead week and final exams went well. Even if they didn't, good news -- the website has been caught up in uploads and updates! The TASA Kitchen gallery from November 4 has been updated with an event video! Also the remaining photos from Taste of Taiwan have been uploaded! So if you missed out on the event, be sure to check them out! And if you made it to the event, check it out to see if you made it into any of the pictures! You can view them in the Fall 09 - Spring 10 section of the Photo Gallery. Thanks again to everyone who came out and made the event such a huge success!! In other news, photos from Hot Pot Night have been uploaded as well. We hope you enjoyed the hot food and company in the dead of ... Dead Week. A special congratulations goes out to the newest member of the TASA Board! Congratulations to Ian Chen on Freshman Representative! Nothing hurts like saying goodbye, but two of the board members are leaving! First off, congratulations to Service Chair Christopher Yang on his co-op position! Take care in South Carolina, and we'll hopefully still see you some weekends! And to Vice President Ted Chen, congratulations on graduating from Tech! Especially in only 3.5 years! We'll see you around as you continue to apply for higher education! Congratulations to you both, and the TASA Board will certainly miss you two during spring semester!
